    Gold Wires
    Olinghouse District (White Horse District)
Pah Rah Range (Pah Rah Mts), Washoe Co.
    Nevada, USA

This intriguing specimen is a plate of gray matrix covered with rich Gold wires. The incredibly lustrous and tiny Native Gold pops off the brick as they are eye-catching when hit with light. The wires are inter-grown in a moss-like habit and display beautifully. A section of stark white Calcite adds to the visual affect as it pulls the viewer's eye across the Gold "nest." This piece should be viewed under a loupe or microscope to get the full effect. The organic shape of the piece adds to the overall curiosity. Collectors will appreciate this specimen as it is a nice-sized example and comes from a now closed locality. This is a prototype "Olinghouse Gold" and a unique variety that needs to be represented in any Gold collection.
