    Description

    Genthelvite, Ilvaite & Quartz
    Inner Mongolia
    China

Presented on a custom acrylic base, this complex association consists of Genthelvite, Ilvaite and Quartz in a most unusual specimen. A "floral" cluster of rare brown Genthelvite is effectively wedged between three rough crystals of blackish Ilvaite above it and a lot of fibrous grayish-brown Quartz crystals below it with some Genthelvite visible behind and between the Ilvaite towers. The combination of earth tones black, brown and gray actually result in a visually appealing and nicely contrasting piece. An outstanding example of a rare species, the "starburst" of Genthelvite is the focal point of this grouping. The collector Zhang Jingnang out of Kaifeng City in the Henan Province of China provided this specimen considered to be the 'best of the species' aside from some green crystal groupings of the mineral variety from Canada.
    Measurements: 6.10 x 3.94 x 3.54 inches (15.50 x 10.00 x 9.00 cm)

    Provenance: Ex. Zhang Jingnang Collection

    Estimate: $10,000 - up.
