Xianghuapu Mine (Maiwan Mine), Xianghualing Sn-polymetallic ore field
Linwu Co., Chenzhou, Hunan
Out of the private, personal collection of mineral dealer Robert Lavinsky, this specimen of green Fluorite is everything the variety so associated with China should be - namely, transparent, massive, and perfect. This rather sizable example measuring 11 inches (28 cm) across came out of an "old" find circa 2005 and is simply exquisite on all counts. Presented with a custom engraved acrylic base, the classic 'Coke bottle' green Fluorite from the Xianghuapu Mine is water clear with numerous, extremely well-formed, crystals and superb visual aesthetics. A true museum quality specimen if there ever was one, this idyllic classic is something that really must be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Many superlative attributes of this representation of Chinese Fluorite combine to put this in a class by itself. Even the most novice collector upon seeing this in person would recognize the unbelievable clarity of the considerable cubes that cover this highly dimensional offering. Certain to be the focal point of any display case lucky enough to have it, this is one of those truly one-of-a-kind examples of an iconic mineral that shows just how good it can be.
