FluoriteHardin County, Illinois, USA
19 x 11 x 9 cm (7.48 x 4.33 x 3.54 in)
This piece presents a superb cluster of beautifully formed, interconnecting cubic Fluorites from the famous mining regions of Southern Illinois with scattered radial clusters of white, needle-like crystals (possibly Strontianite). Each of the crystals have a vibrant sky blue hue and an incredibly rich field of purple throughout the center of the Fluorites; along with a high level of transparency, the specimen backlights exceptionally well, bringing out the full definition and saturation of the Fluorite's internal zoning. The underside of the Fluorite is relatively flat and lightly etched. In February 2019, this specimen was included in a fundraiser at the Westword Look show in Tucson, Arizona, for the Alfie Norville Gem and Mineral Museum at the University of Arizona, which is where it ultimately made its way into Dan's collection.
From the collection of Daniel "Dan" R. Kennedy.
More Information: This piece is in excellent condition with three very small restorations along the corners and edges.
