Xianghuapu Mine, Xianghualing Orefield, Linwu Co., Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
Although the label attests that this excellent Fluorite is from "Shan Fua Lin," this locality was probably fabricated in order to throw off would-be competitors to the supply chain that furnished this piece. It is most likely from the Xianghuapu Mine. This theory is supported by the absolute similarity of color and form that are shown by this specimen, matched with the material from that well-known locality. Fluorite specimen with simple cubic form, limpidly transparent outer regions of a lovely mint green, surrounding a "phantom" zone of grayish, cubical form deep in the centers of the crystals. It has a brilliant luster. The largest crystal measures some 2.3 inches (5.7 cm) on edge. It is in pristine condition.
