Fluorite, Sphalerite and Baryte
    Elmwood Mine, Carthage
Central Tennessee Ba-F-Pb-Zn Dist., Smith Co.
    Tennessee, USA

This natural combination of Fluorite, Sphalerite and Baryte speaks for itself. It is an organic shaped "old" specimen mined in the 1980/90s. This huge museum quality piece hails from the type locality for this variety of material: Elmwood, Tennessee. The massive cubic purple Fluorite crystals are the focal point of this piece. The core of the Fluorite crystals are a subtle yellow hue overlaid with rich purple creating an impactful piece. The Fluorite crystals are well-formed and exhibit "phantoms" with an amazing growth habit. The snowy white Baryte "balls" add an element of excitement to this heavy piece. The matrix is composed of metallic gray Sphalerite crystals with pyramidal form and adamantine luster. All of these nicely formed crystals work together seamlessly on the gray metallic matrix to result in an outstanding specimen. There is little or no damage to the main crystals adding to the value of the piece. Sure to be the star of any cabinet, this spectacular example will command attention. Photo courtesy of Joe Budd.
