Description

Fluorapophyllite on Stilbite
Jalgaon Dist., Maharashtra, India

This piece is distinct because it represents a quality and style rarely seen for this combination in this size, with a 6 cm gem point standing straight up from the contrasting Stilbite matrix. A single, remarkable pocket produced these sharp, standing gem crystals of exceedingly gemmy mint-green Fluorapophyllite perched on clouds of pink Stilbite crystals right before Munich of 2017. The pinky-peach Stilbite crystals are between 1.5 and 4.5 cm in maximum dimension. Similar pieces of diminutive size have been produced in the past, but noteworthy, large, sublime pieces of this quality are the exception. Of the ones that were recovered from this particular find, under a dozen were as remarkable as this piece for aesthetics, still fewer of this size, and all of these are among the best examples seen of the species from this deposit in this small cabinet size range. It is three-dimensional and complete all around, with only one clean and invisible repair in the middle and no damage. Although common in principle, Indian minerals at the zenith of their finds and really stand out among some of the best the world has to offer-this striking specimen comes with a custom engraved lucite base.
