The necessity to raise money led the mine foreman at the Casapalca Mine to part with this superb Enargite from his personal collection. This incredibly large and perfect group of crystals are as good as this mineral gets, featuring stout black metallic prisms up to 1.5 inches in length, arranged in radiating groups with minor amounts of white Quartz crystals nestled in recesses between the Enargite crystals. Unlike most Enargites, this one exhibits exceptionally complex growth figures on all of the exposed faces. The terminations in particular possess hundreds of pyramidal crystal faces, all of which are epitaxially aligned, generating a scintillation effect that is extraordinarily captivating in reflected light. There are traces of what appears to be Pyrite on the bottom and some light green alteration products on lower surfaces, likely Malachite. A small corner nick to one crystal is the only blemish on this piece which is in excellent condition. Quite large for the species, it is truly one of the finest examples of the mineral that can be seen today.
