    Description
ElbaitePaprok, Kamdesh District, Nuristan, Afghanistan
16.6 x 7.0 x 6.7 cm (6.54 x 2.77 x 2.65 in)
Beginning from a beautifully colored trigonal base, this piece expands upwards into a parallel aggregate of colorful crystals, spanning from apple green to light pink in color. The core of the specimen is a rich watermelon-pink that is outlined by two zones: colorless, then green. The vertical spray of crystals have a gemmy that creates a quality of depth, both within the prism of the cluster, and especially in the faces of the many terminations, which are a lovely dusky pink and beautifully modified, like facets. The luster of each crystal is extremely glassy, and well-striated. The two horizontal "sidecars" near the peak of the Elbaite showcase the same crystal structure but with a white core, rather than pink. This specimen is in great condition, with minor bruising. This is a great example of Paprok material, of which there is a wide variety in terms of color, habit, and form. This type of Elbaite, with the tight clustering and interesting color, is one of the more collectable varieties from Paprok, or Afghanistan in general. This specimen has a custom engraved acrylic base.
