Jalgaon District, Maharashtra, India
This has to be one of the finest of Calcites to have come from the quarries of Jalgaon. The enormous 5.75 inches (14.6 cm) multiple crystal group is super transparent and shows interesting growth features on a number of faces as well as a few twin planes that produce a 'rainbow' effect when viewed from certain directions. Although there is a Chalcedony 'stalactite' entering one corner, which could have been the sole attachment point, there is also a 'sugary' area on the back that looks like a secondary contact point. There are a couple of minor dings but overall the condition is excellent.
Overall measurements: 5.63 x 2.81 x 3.81 inches (14.3 x 7.5 x 9.7 cm). Offered at no reserve.
Provenance: Keith Proctor [Hoppel Catalog # D1598]
[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
