Southwest Mine, Bisbee, Warren District, Mule Mts., Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
Natural cavities, formed by shrinkage and collapse of Copper ore-bodies in the Southwest Mine, gradually, and slowly, were decorated by Calcite formations deposited by downward percolating groundwater over time. This one shows typical knobby growths that in turn sprout even more complex forms, which look like coral "fingers." There is the merest hint of green color on some of the lower parts of the specimen, and some of the original Copper minerals responsible for that color can also be found on the bottom of the group. Condition appears to be excellent with the only fracturing confined to the edges of the specimen.
