The beryl variety of a mineral is classified by color, and the blue faction is, of course, Aquamarine. The vast majority of "Aqua" tends to have quite a light and pale bluish coloration. Unlike typical examples, this large and complex specimen contains gemmy Aquamarine crystals with superb saturation and vivid blue coloration. The cluster dominates this association that includes several massive and elongated Smoky Quartz crystals with characteristic 6-sided prismatic form. The enormous crystalline "spikes" exhibit a variety of terminations and serve to anchor the piece in a solidified manner, with the cluster of opposing gorgeous intense blue Aquamarine crystals near the base. This is a rather sizable specimen with a nice contrast of subtle Smoky Quartz as the backdrop of the section of vibrant blue with a highly vitreous luster. From the somewhat unusual locality of Vietnam, this mineral offers extreme size, appealing form, and, of course, its superb coloration.
