Description

Beryl var. Aquamarine
Mt Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co.
Mianyang, Sichuan
China

This example of the March birthstone is presented on a custom engraved acrylic base that showcases it in a most impressive, vertical orientation. This tree-like cluster consists of numerous large crystal forms, with excellent color and superb clarity. This mineral tower stands a full 7 inches (18 cm) in height and is one extremely aesthetic representation. This exquisite Aquamarine once graced the collection of Dr. Steve Smale, so it is no surprise the piece is visually striking and highly collectible. The luster over the surfaces of the crystals is sublime having a glassy nature that is even tactile. The sprinkling of a Muscovite matrix primarily near the base but also on the top adds an element of contrast to the gemmy specimen. Out of the famed Mt. Xuebaoding deposits, this fine mineral has a further bonus of the blue beryl surrounding the main stalk of the rock. This large offering of Aquamarine is a most wonderful natural presentation in terms of its arborescent shape and stunning visual aesthetics. This is a nice representation of "older" Chinese material.
Measurements: 7.09 x 3.59 x 2.63 inches (18.00 x 9.12 x 6.67 cm)

Provenance: Ex. Steve Smale Collection
