The combinations of Benitoite and Neptunite are a mainstay of classic American mineral collecting, and are found exclusively in the California State Gem Mine of California. The contrast between thin prisms and chunky triangular blue crystals, as displayed in this attractive cabinet specimen, is delightful. In fact, the Benitoite crystals here are particularly euhedral, forming as sharp, beveled triangles with a lightly frosted luster. The quality of these crystals cannot be overstated! Under the satin sheen of the Benitoite's surfaces is a beautiful navy blue, with slightly lighter cores to add some variation within the hues. Of course, this specimen would not be complete without the lovely Neptunite association to the side of the specimen, a classic association that adds geologic context to the specimen. This specimen is in near-pristine condition, with only two near-microscopic nicks to the Neptunite and one Benitoite crystal.
