BarreriteRocky Pass, Kuiu Island, Sitka Borough, Alaska, USA
18 x 11 x 8 cm (7.09 x 4.33 x 3.15 in)
As broad and prolific as the zeolite group is, one of the rarest members you could find is Barrerite-a mineral closely related to Stilbite-which is seldom seen in larger combination specimens such as this. All over, this specimen is dotted with superb crystals of Barrerite that have a sharp tabular shape, reach up to 2.5 centimeters across, and even exhibit fabulous doubly-terminated crystals. Acting as the matrix for the Barrerite is a three-dimensional layer of nicely rounded drusy Quartz aggregates, all of which are extremely lustrous and give the entire specimen a strongly cascading visual. This piece comes with a custom acrylic base.
From the collection of Daniel "Dan" R. Kennedy.
More Information: This piece is in excellent condition. Please note, the locality listed on the base is incorrect.
