    Description

    Azurite
    Liufengshan Mine, Guichi District
    Chizhou, Anhui
    China

Simply put, this massive and majestic specimen came out of the most famous larger find of Azurite in China which is no surprise looking at the size, color, form and grandeur of this museum-quality piece. The giant nodular form offers an open cavity revealing an abundance of dark blue crystals of the fine Copper mineral. The famed find of 2002 produced this specimen, among other examples, which were bought and then subsequently sold off quickly. Noted mineral collector and dealer Ken Roberts owned the majority of the production from the pocket at one point before this piece ended up in the personal collection of Rob Lavinsky. Not surprisingly, this outstanding specimen was also featured in the exhibit back in 2013 at the University of Arizona showcasing the 'Crystalline Treasures of China' which opened during the famed Tucson Gem & Mineral Show that year. Superlatives which describe this massive and stunning example are numerous as the offering exhibits impeccable aesthetics and excellent condition. Presented on a custom engraved acrylic base, this colossal museum-quality Azurite is bordered by both light and dark Malachite in a classic association. The exterior is complex but also rather exquisite with a brilliant cavity of dark Azurite crystals as well as a large section of gorgeous minty Malachite. The larger cabinet example is unbelievable and originated in a unique pocket destined to be treasured for all time.
