This Azurite specimen has far better aesthetics than most of the specimens from the locality of Anhui Province, in Eastern China. The matrix of this specimen is geode-like, in that there is a shallow cavity right in the middle of the piece that is lushly lined with velvety, deep blue Azurite crystals. On top of this plush carpet of Azurite are a few secondary growth crystals, small but pristine. The Matrix curling around the Azurite deposit is subtly colored with spots of green, caused by minor Malachite that is embedded in the host rock, a common association considering that they are both Copper minerals. Even around the sides and back of the specimen, there are a few more tiny pockets of Azurite.
