Description

    Aquamarine on Muscovite
    Nagar (Nagir), Hunza Valley
    Gilgit District, Gilgit-Baltistan (Northern Areas)
    Pakistan

Of the many exports from Pakistan, Aquamarines are some of the most special. This outstanding display piece features dozens of powder-blue Aquamarine crystals which have formed in a "stack" atop a thick layer of metallic gray "bladed" Muscovite. The Aquamarine crystals exhibit flat terminations with a nice, well-formed hexagonal shape. The bottom half of the piece is dominated by hundreds of such "bladed" Muscovite crystals. There is a light dusting of Quartz present, as well as several smaller and clear Quartz crystals, which adds to the overall complexity of the association. This specimen is an ideal representation of the material highlighting how all of these different minerals "peacefully" coexist together. Permanently affixed to an old Sunnywood wooden base with an acrylic lid, this dramatic piece is a winner. There is some mineralization present on the crystal faces, and the rock is in excellent condition with no visible damage.
