In the course of their growth and development gem crystals sometimes do unpredictable things. In this case, a double terminated 'floater' crystal atypically began growing on the side of another doubly-terminated aquamarine from the same 'pocket'. While not unknown, this habit, coupled with the size of the specimen does constitute a rare occurrence in Nature. The color is a pale powder-blue and the luster is glassy. A goodly portion of the specimen would be considered suitable for cutting into gemstones. There are minor amounts of accessory clevelandite and black tourmaline to add variety to the piece. There is a minor nick on the edge of the 'cross-bar' and an unobtrusive repair to the back, otherwise in fine condition. It measures 6 inches high by 3 ½ inches across and is approximately 1 inch deep. This fine specimen comes with a custom stand. Ex Gene & Roz Meieran Collection.
Estimate: $65,000 - $75,000.
