    Apophyllite on Stilbite
Well # 3, Momin Akhada, Rahuri, Ahmadnagar, Maharashtra, India

In more ways than one, this is a very cool Zeolite plate. The "cool" part involves both the cool green color of the Apophyllite groups and the attractive aesthetics of the 20+ groups that form spheres and clusters of radiating crystals. Different from the vast majority of Indian Apophyllite specimens, the prisms that make up these groups are square in cross-section with flat terminal faces, not the usual pyramidal ones. The largest and most spherical group is approximately 2 inches (5 cm) across. A mass of cream-colored, Stilbite blades serve as the matrix for the Apophyllite. The Stilbite shows a pearlescent sort of luster and some parts of, the otherwise glassy, Apophyllite prisms are also pearlescent in luster. The condition of the piece is pristine with no observable damage. This is a very fine and large example of one of the rarest forms of Apophyllite from India.
    Overall Measurements: 14.2 x 8.5 x 4.9 inches (36.0 x 21.6 x 12.6 cm)
    Offered at no reserve.

    Estimate: $10,000 - $15,000.
