Description
Amazonite on AlbiteSanta Maria de Itabira Mine, Santa Maria de Itabira, Minas Gerais, Brazil
17 x 16 x 11 cm (6.69 x 6.30 x 4.33 in)
Coming from this lesser-known Brazilian gem pegmatite is an exceptional cabinet specimen that presents over a dozen well-formed, sturdy Amazonite crystals (up to 6.7 x 6.2 centimeters) on a pure white Albite matrix. The color of these Amazonite crystals is a rich blue-green that is almost comparable to the famous materials found in localities throughout Colorado, even Ethiopia! Only a modest selection of "specimen-grade" Amazonites have been produced from this locality, making this piece an even more uncommon and impressive find. This piece comes with a custom acrylic base.
From the collection of Daniel "Dan" R. Kennedy.
More Information: There are a couple voids where smaller crystals once resided but overall the piece is in excellent condition.
