2 Miles N.E. of Harris Park, Park Co., Colorado, USA

The combination of Amazonite and Smoky Quartz is a perennial favorite among collectors of aesthetic crystal groups. Unfortunately, Mother Nature rarely sees fit to arrange for decent examples of those minerals to co-exist on the same piece. Here we have several large and stout crystals of variegated color Amazonite associated with a sizable prism of Smoky Quartz measuring 4 inches (10 cm) in length. Rough spherical groups of bladed Feldspar crystals cluster in the hollows between and around the bases of the Amazonites and the Smoky Quartz. Color of the Amazonite ranges from deep turquoise on the terminal faces to almost colorless patches on the sides of the crystals. Close examination of the piece indicates that it was "stabilized" sometime after cleaning, as revealed after inspection of the bottom side of the piece. This is a practice usually necessary with these multi-crystal groups. The largest Amazonite is roughly 6 inches (16 cm) in length, and all Amazonites are in excellent condition. The Smoky Quartz shows traces of an accompanying "neighbor" crystal along with minor nicking - not unusual for Quartz from these Colorado 'pockets,' which are typically collapsed when found. This was named "The Wings of Victory" by Tom Odiorne, the digger who originally discovered the pocket. See the 360 degree video of this specimen which is available online.
    Overall Measurements: 9.33 x 4.8 x 4.4 inches (23.7 x 12.2 x 11.2 cm)
    Offered at no reserve.
