Punggur Meteorite Slice & Digital Pigment Print
H7-melt breccia
Lampung, Indonesia - (5° 0' 22"S, 105° 16' 12"E)
Witnessed Fall: January 28, 2021

The story of the Punggur Meteorite is unique, special, and indeed worth telling. The sonic boom from the large bolide was recorded by the Indonesia Tsunami Early Warning System and shook the houses of residents in southern Sumatra. This witnessed event included a large stone crashing through the roof of a house in the Punggur District along with many other masses, which fell over and then landed on the village. This most "extraordinary" chondrite is the ONLY approved meteorite classified as an H7-melt breccia, and this slice, weighing 35.5 grams, boasts an odd polished primary display surface featuring a mix of silvery metal and brown stone with surface fracturing that is fully stable. The slab boasts a unique shape with a very thin edge. This offering comes accompanied by a limited edition - 13 of 100 - digital, pigment print signed and dated in the lower right corner by the Indonesian artist Elang Erlangga depicting in full-color and commemorating "The Fall of the Punggur Meteorite" in Lampung, Indonesia, on January 28, 2021, under the title Kamis Wage Purnama. The artwork measures about 16.25 x 13.75 inches (41.275 x 34.925 cm).
Measurements: 3.67 x 2.87 x 0.08 inches (9.32 x 7.30 x 0.20 cm), weighs 35.5 grams
