The Mesosiderite variety of meteorites is highly understudied and, therefore, not a fully understood form. A class of Stony-Iron composed of approximately equal parts of Nickel-Iron and Silicate, the type is rare, and this beautiful slab with a naturally artistic appearance is full of light and dark circles over a reflective polished surface. This irregular slice measures 9 inches (23 cm) at the maximum dimension and has both visually appealing shape and form. Representing NWA 8402, which was discovered in the Sahara Desert region in 2014, this "A3" meteorite is a top example of a class A and metamorphic grade 3 Mesosiderite. Inherently collectible, if for no other reason than being so uncommon, a Mesosiderite like this is a prize, especially one that happens to weigh a substantial 340.3 grams. This is one magnificent display slice.
