    Description
Maslyanino SliceIron - IAB Complex
Novosibirsk Region, Russia - (54° 20'N, 84°12'E)
It is amazing how many meteorites are found in Russian wheat fields or by tractor drivers, plowing wheat fields. Maslyanino was found by agronomist V.G. Okel' in ----- a wheat field. At 26 kilos (57 pounds) one would hope that he didn't have to carry it far. It ended up at the Russian Academy of Science-Novosibirsk Branch, whose scientists traded pieces with the rest of the world. Our offering is a brilliantly reflective slice of nickel-iron with numerous dark silicate inclusions of jagged, irregular form. Microscopic blebs of metal, pepper the silicate inclusions. The exterior form of the mass is preserved in the outline of the slice, with all of the original exterior, represented in the specimen. It is polished on both sides for added charm.
Overall Measurements: 6.9 x 5.4 x 0.1 inches (17.5 x 13.7 x 0.3 cm), weighs 210 gm (7.4 oz.)
