Ordinary Chondrite, L5
North-Eastern, Kenya - (1°27.26'N, 39°54.37'E)
In rather simple terms, this Bojiyare meteorite represents THE largest chondrite ever found in Kenya. It is massive in size for any meteorite fall, and the example, weighing 56.4 kilograms (124 pounds), is just enormous. The rocky faces of this Ordinary Chondrite, L5 display remnant patches of weathered fusion crust, and its broken exterior surface exhibits patches of reddish-brown soil with multiple 'thumbprint' regmaglypts that give the colossal rock a great deal of character. This is a museum-quality specimen of an L5 chondrite which was found in 2018 that is not only big but highly aesthetic, with a colorful exterior. Of course, this is the MAIN MASS of Bojiyare and one of the larger stony meteorites likely to be viewed and owned.
