Description
NWA 13280 Meteorite End Cut - 761.37 Grams - Main MassEucrite-pmict
Northwest Africa
Found: 2019
Northwest Africa (NWA) 13280 is an Eucrite, a basaltic achondrite belonging to the HED Clan of meteorites believed to originate from the differentiated asteroid 4 Vesta, one of the largest bodies in the asteroid belt. Such meteorites represent ancient volcanic crust formed during early planetary differentiation, offering important insights into igneous processes that occurred on small planetary bodies in the early solar system. This impressive end cut weighs a robust 761 grams and measures approximately 4 inches (10 cm) across, making it a notably substantial example of this rare meteorite variety. The specimen features the unique attribute of having two cut-and-polished surfaces that reveal a complex polymict interior composition, producing a striking visual interplay of textures and tones within the extraterrestrial rock. The rugged natural exterior combined with the pair of polished windows creates a display of exceptional visual depth, elevating this remarkable Eucrite to a truly sublime collector specimen.
Measurements: 4.17 x 3.10 x 2.10 inches (10.58 x 7.88 x 5.33 cm), weighs 761.37 grams
