Description
Chelyabinsk MeteoriteOrdinary Chondrite (LL5)
Chelyabinskaya Oblast', Russia (54°49'N, 61°07'E) (approximate centroid)
Fell: 15 Feb 2013; 3:22 UT
0.91 x 0.86 x 0.72 inches (2.30 x 2.18 x 1.83 cm)
Dark and mysterious, this 13.70-gram offering is a complete Chelyabinsk Meteorite from Russia. The craggy specimen has an immense amount of character for an otherwise everyday-looking rock with dark fusion crust and lighter chondrules scattered throughout. This is a great example of the Russian material from the widely witnessed fall of 2013.
Estimate: $300 - up.
