    Description

    Allende Slice
    Stony, Carbonaceous Chondrite, Type III
    Pueblito de Allende, Chihuahua, Mexico - (26° 58'N, 105° 19'W)
    Witnessed Fall: February 8, 1969, 7h05m GMT

Allende stands out as being the largest of the carbonaceous chondrite meteorites found here on Earth and was associated with a witnessed fireball back in 1969. However, it may be the fact that Allende has a composition inclusive of some of the oldest material in the Solar System. Considered by some to be the most widely studied meteorite in history, specimens - like this wonderful slice - contain inclusions rich in Calcium and Aluminum, termed "CAI" (Calcium-Aluminum Inclusion), and are thought to be some of the oldest matter ever to have crystallized making the constituents of the Allende CV3 older than Earth.
    Overall Measurements: 5.91 x 4.53 x 0.13 inches (15.00 x 11.50 x 0.33 cm), weighs 121 grams

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]

It would indeed have been much simpler to work with a local auction house, and we had local options. But we never once regretted going with Heritage.
