    Seymchan Meteorite
    Pallasite, PMG
    Magadanskaya Oblast', Russia (62° 54'N, 152° 26'E)
    Found: June 1967

This uncommon individual of the famous Seymchan is very aesthetic and resembles a flame when looked at on either main face. The famous Russian meteorite is unique in that it is both partly metallic and partly pallasitic. While the majority of Seymchan specimens are known to have Olivine crystals present, complete specimens like this with exclusively metallic features have been found. Dating back to 1967, Seymchan has now been around almost 50 years and is still sought after by collectors. While the main mass was found during a survey in 1967 near the settlement of Seymchan in the Magadan District of Russia, an expedition in 2004 some 10 years ago resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of "new" material. Of particular note, some 20% of the new specimens were found to contain Olivine crystals which revealed the silicate nature of the meteorite as the initial discovery did not disclose a pallasitic nature of the meteorite from study of the original mass. At almost 900 grams (almost 32 ounces), this is no small specimen. The metallic individual has nice character and detail on all its surfaces.
    Overall Measurements: 4.8 x 3.3 x 1.7 inches (12.1 x 8.4 x 4.3 cm), weighs 896 gm (31.6 oz.)
