Description

Seymchan Meteorite Slice - 1,874.7 Grams
Pallasite, PMG
Magadanskaya oblast', Russia - (62° 54'N, 152° 26'E)
Found: June 1967

This impressive full slice of the Seymchan Meteorite weighs 1,874.7 grams and belongs to the rare class of pallasites-a stony-iron meteorite type composed of a nickel-iron matrix embedded with Olivine (Peridot) crystals. Pallasites are thought to originate near the mantle-core boundary of a differentiated planetary body, making them some of the most scientifically significant and visually stunning extraterrestrial materials known. Discovered in the Magadan District of Russia in 1967, Seymchan is distinguished by its structural integrity and the clarity of its olivine inclusions. This complete transitional slice has been expertly polished and etched on both sides, revealing the striking Widmanstätten pattern of interlocking Nickel-Iron crystals along with scattered golden-green Olivine grains-a hallmark of the Seymchan material. An exceptional specimen for collectors of meteorites, planetary science, or fine natural history objects.
Measurements: 10.16 x 8.86 x 0.32 inches (25.80 x 22.50 x 0.82 cm), weighs 1,874.7 grams

Provenance: Property of a Distinguished Southern California Collector
