Pallasite, PMG
    Chubut Province (Patagonian Territory), Argentina. (42° 54'S, 71° 20'W)
    Year Found: Probably before 1951

It is truly amazing how many meteorites are found by people going about mundane chores like the Argentine fellow who was digging a hole for a water tank one day, when he encountered what turned out to be one of the prettiest meteorites ever found: Esquel. Esquel was determined to be a Pallasite of the Main Group type; its official designation is Pallasite, PMG. Revised estimates of its weight are in the order of 1500 pounds in total. The beautiful Olivine inclusions embedded within the Nickel-Iron matrix are displayed at their best by illuminating thin slices like this one to show the transparency and delicate golden color of the inclusions. Both sides of this "stained glass window" are highly polished to bring out the brilliant luster and transparency of the piece and one side has been etched to emphasize the complex crystalline nature of the Nickel-Iron matrix. Words are not required because some things speak for themselves.
    Overall Measurements: 8.66 x 5.51 x 0.12 inches (22 x 14 x 0.3 cm), weighs 256.9 gm (9.06 oz.)

    Estimate: $9,000 - $12,000.
