    Description

    Brenham Meteorite
    Pallasite, PMG-an
    Kansas, USA - (37° 34' 57"N, 99° 9' 49"W)
    Found: 1882

Cut and etched over both sides, this thick meteorite slab represents an exclusively all-Iron piece of the Brenham Pallasite which weighs a substantial 1.7 kilograms (3.7 pounds). The heavy specimen displays an irregular shape and an intricate Widmanstätten pattern over both of its considerably large surfaces. The broad edge rind is dark with a reddish-brown rusty patina surrounding the fine slice. Brenham was found in Kansas back in 1882 and formed the Haviland Crater when it fell. The mass, thought to be the largest Pallasite in the world at the time, was found by a private collector in 1949, and a geologist and a meteorite hunter found the largest fragment ever found of Brenham in 2005. The anomalous meteorite is well known to collectors, and examples of the variety have been displayed in a number of institutions.
    Overall Measurements: 10.04 x 8.35 x 0.33 inches (25.50 x 21.20 x 0.84 cm), weighs 1,783 grams

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
