    Description

    Brenham Meteorite End Cut
    Pallasite, PMG-an
    Kansas, USA - (37° 34' 57"N, 99° 9' 49"W)
    Found: 1882

This offering of the Brenham Meteorite is a "half stone" and was found in 2006 by Geologist Philip Mani and Adventurer Steve Arnold which has been cut and polished to reveal its glorious and colorful interior. This member of the Pallasite variety, a classification of stony-iron meteorites that represents less than 1 percent of all known types, weighs approximately 54 pounds (24.5 kilograms) making this end cut as big as it is beautiful. The polished display surface of this specimen showcases a myriad of "gemmy" Peridot crystals amid the slick metallic iron-nickel matrix. The extraterrestrial Olivine is diagnostic of the variety and adds an amazing aspect to the meteorite. This offering has an additional rare attribute - a charcoal color massive "zone" of Chromite replacing the mirror finish of the iron-nickel material. Chromite when found with embedded Peridot (Olivine) is known as "Chro-Pall" in homage to the duality of constituents. Out of a private collection, the stunning example is in pristine condition and also exhibits an exceptional coverage of vibrant golden crystals over the silvery reflective metallic surface. This is a superb specimen.
    Overall Measurements: 11.50 x 10.00 x 8.00 inches (29.21 x 25.40 x 20.32 cm), weighs 24.35 kilograms (56.06 pounds)
