Admire Meteorite - Complete Slice of a Pallasite, the Most Beautiful Extraterrestrial Substance Known
    PMG - Pallasite
    Lyon County, Kansas

This is an exquisite complete slice of the Admire Pallasite, named after the place near where it was found, Admire, Kansas. The crystals of Olivine in evidence are suspended in a gleaming nickel-iron matrix. The first specimen of Admire was found in 1881 and is readily identified by large polycrystalline areas that cleaved into highly angular shards and, rarely, is the distribution of these angular crystals as aesthetic as in the example now offered. Less than 1% of all meteorites are Pallasites, which is the most resplendent extraterrestrial substance known. Admire Pallasites are the source of crystals marketed as Palladot-faceted gem-quality crystals used in jewelry applications. This complete slice was deaccessioned from the Macovich Collection, the foremost collection of aesthetic iron meteorites in the world.
    Overall Measurements: 11.8 x 6.3 x 0.1 inches (30.0 x 16.0 x 0.3 cm), weighs 383.7 gm (13.53 oz.)

    Estimate: $6,000 - $8,000.
