Inherently rare to begin with, collectible examples of the impactite Moldavite rarely come in larger sizes, and pieces in excess of 10 grams are considered rather uncommon. Not surprisingly, this offering, with a weight of 13.6 grams, is a true collector specimen. Featuring an excellent teardrop shape, this complete Moldavite exhibits high translucency and rich, greenish coloration. With a marked bush-like appearance, the material is top quality displaying an expected vitreous luster and one tiny spot of matrix on the back. This specimen measures a full 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) in length and is shaped a bit like a whale in the abstract.
