The superlative descriptors just keep coming for this truly magnificent piece of Libyan Desert Glass ("LDG"). This variety of Tektite comes out of the Great Sand Sea in the Western Desert of Egypt. The material resulted from an ancient meteorite impacting Earth and is quite popular among collectors. This truly superb piece of LDG, weighing a colossal 2.1 kilograms (4.6 pounds), exhibits phenomenal translucence, exceptional greenish coloration, and a rugged texture. The naturally sculptural form is further accentuated by deep channels and tubular voids carved by millennia of wind abrasion and environmental exposure. This huge example of the top-quality LDG is one of the best likely to be seen and presents a singular combination of shape, form, color, and size. This specimen is one truly unparalleled representation of this unique natural glass.
