DescriptionNWA 8159 Martian Meteorite
Martian (augite basalt)
NWA 8159 is effectively a new Martian Meteorite that was found in Morocco in 2013. There was only 149.39 grams in terms of total mass of this recovered material, so even very small examples are significant and valuable. While this extremely tiny sample only weighs 0.64 grams, it is, nonetheless, highly aesthetic, and reveals a core of reddish-orange consistent with its origin from the Red Planet. Believed to be at least 2.3 billion years old, this meteorite is unlike all other Martian varieties and is an Olivine-bearing Augite-rich basalt. This offering consists of a representation of the very rare and uncommon Martian.
