DescriptionPARTIAL SLICE OF LUNAR METEORITE: NWA 5000
Achondrite (lunar, feldspathic breccia)
Found: July 2007
The attraction of Lunar Highlands specimens is that, in general, they show a greater diversity of structure and composition due to slow cooling of the molten Highlands material, which favored the growth of larger and more differentiated textures of the component minerals. Subsequent breakage and impact welding re-combined the different minerals into masses showing very different colors and patterns. This partial slice shows contrasting clasts of white, gray and black.
Overall Measurements: 0.47 x 0.51 x 0.16 inches (1.2 x 1.3 x 0.4 cm), weighs 1.016 gm (.0358 oz.)
Offered at no reserve.
