NWA 16894 Lunar Meteorite Necklace
Lunar (basaltic breccia)
Western Sahara
Found: 2023

This mesmerizing necklace features cut and polished segments of NWA 16894, an officially classified basaltic breccia lunar meteorite-a rare and scientifically significant variety with volcanic origins. Formed from ancient lava flows on the Moon's surface and later compacted by powerful impact events, this material was ultimately ejected into space by a cataclysmic collision, journeying through the cosmos before landing on Earth. The meteorite's surface showcases a striking matrix of dark gray basalt, interspersed with white and brown inclusions, capturing the rugged, fractured texture of the lunar landscape. Artistically arranged in a celestial progression of lunar phases, the design moves gracefully from crescent to full moon, culminating in a balanced arc across the neckline. Each lunar phase is set in 18K Gold-plated Sterling Silver with bezel settings, highlighting both the material's extraterrestrial origin and artistic jewelry design. The necklace measures 17.75 inches (45.08 cm), classifying it as a Princess-length, and features an adjustable chain with a lobster clasp and multiple jump rings for versatile styling. A poetic blend of astronomy, natural history, and modern craftsmanship, this piece is far more than jewelry-it is a wearable artifact of the Moon, perfect for collectors, space enthusiasts, or anyone captivated by the mysteries of the universe.
Necklace Measurements: 17.75 x 0.52 x 0.12 inches (45.08 x 1.32 x 0.30 cm)
