This truly spectacular lunar meteorite is referred to as La'gad and was found in 2015 in the Western Sahara. The mass weighs an impressive 171.6 grams making it a fairly large piece from the Moon. An amazing feldspathic breccia, this specimen exhibits an irregular exterior with no fusion crust. A "saw cut" window reveals a polymict breccia interior, with light and dark clasts. This lunar meteorite is an NWA 8455 Clan member making it 1 of only 15 classified meteorites in the group. Unlike most of the lunar examples which have been weathered, this rock is not a ventifact but rather angular and sharp. The ruddy exterior has a varied texture with a coloration ranging from white to gray to even orange.
