This specimen is a well-preserved example of an Iron meteorite recovered from the Uruacu strewn field in Brazil. The surface displays prominent regmaglypts, formed as the mass ablated-partially melted and stripped away-during atmospheric entry. Patches of reddish-brown oxidation are scattered across the dark, metallic exterior. Uruacu is classified as a Coarse Octahedrite, and sections of this material typically reveal a Widmanstätten pattern when cut and etched. This is an excellent 255-gram example of a less common meteorite that would make an outstanding addition to any collection.
