NWA 869 Sphere
Ordinary chondrite (L3-6)
There is really nothing "ordinary" about any Ordinary Chondrite
when one considers these are a class of stony meteorites and likely
originated from one of three asteroids. While a lack of metallic
luster can be perceived as making them look less like a
stereotypical meteorite, the chondrules can be very attractive,
with a variety of sizes, shapes and colors. This delightful little
sphere, about 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter, is a pleasing brownish
hue overall with some almost Opal-like flecks of color over its
polished surface. A wonderful presentation, the other worldly orb
represents an important variety of meteorite in ball form.
