    Description

    Muonionalusta Meteorite End Cut
Muonionalusta - Iron fine octahedrite - (IVA)
    Northern Sweden - (67° 48'N, 23° 6'E)

This nearly solid end cut weighing some 7.7 lbs. (3.5 kg) is really a study in contrasts. The cut and etched side exhibits a clearly visible but slightly dull Widmanstätten pattern and has one noticeable Troilite bleb on the surface. A second thumbprint sized bleb is on the flat, non-etched bottom. A "lightning bolt" shockwave of dark material cuts through the face at a downward angle breaking up the pattern but adding character as well. The thick end cut sits on its own for display without a stand, and the rugged exterior has the classic iron Meteorite texturing with some expected rust staining. The piece stands some 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) tall and is truly amazing.
    Overall Measurements: 5.00 x 1.79 x 6.38 inches (12.70 x 4.54 x 16.20 cm), weighs 3.48 kg (7.67 lbs.)
    Offered at no reserve.

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
