    Muonionalusta Meteorite End Cut
    Iron, IVA
    Northern Sweden - (67° 48'N, 23° 6'E)
    Found: 1906

A truly visually stunning and spectacular specimen, this superb end cut of Muonionalusta Meteorite exhibits an exceptional Widmanstätten patterning on its finished window side. The majestic end cut features a fluid banding around the outer edge of the primary surface consistent with contemporary etching and preparation methods. The exterior of the piece is a brilliant silver in color, with complex texture and a graduated taper. The example, representing what is considered likely to be one of the oldest known meteorites ever found on the Earth, dates back a mind-boggling billions of years but is thought to have impacted our planet a million years ago, ultimately being first discovered in 1906. It presents beautifully as the intersecting lamellae (bands) of Kamacite and Taenite responsible for the unusual pattern, particular only to certain Iron-Nickel alloy meteorites, are unique, bright and varied. This highly collectible and extremely decorative slender end cut specimen weighs nearly 2,500 grams.
    Overall Measurements: 7.09 x 5.71 x 1.60 inches (18.00 x 14.50 x 4.07 cm), weighs 2,447 grams

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
