    Iron, fine octahedrite - IVA
    Great Nama Land, Namibia - (25° 30'S, 18° 0'E)
    3.57 x 2.61 x 0.36 inches (9.07 x 6.63 x 0.92 cm) (240 grams)

    The Gibeon meteorite fell to earth thousands of years ago in the great Namib Desert. It is composed of an iron-nickel alloy containing significant amounts of Cobalt and Phosphorus. Presented here is a slice of this iron-nickel meteorite featuring the aesthetic octahedrite Widmanstätten pattern. This piece does have a few rust spots, but that is to be expected and is very common with Iron meteorites such a Gibeon.
