    Description

    Gibeon Iron Meteorite
    Iron, fine octahedrite - IVA
    Great Nama Land, Namibia - (25° 30'S, 18° 0'E)

The history of the world is quite large, and since a history must have punctuation, we offer for your review - The Cosmic Comma: an oddly formed Gibeon meteorite with a high degree of curvature. Like many Gibeon examples, it exhibits deep and large "scoops" - concave areas that appear to have be the imprints of giant thumbs, squeezing the nickel-iron like so much modeling clay. This complete individual shows metallic black patina with a light dusting of reddish iron oxides. On the bottom, there is an accession number from the ROA Collection - "1820."
    Overall Measurements: 8.3 x 5.1 x 2.9 inches (21.0 x 13.0 x 7.5 cm), weighs 4.5347 kg (9 lbs. 99 oz.)
    Offered at no reserve.

Provenance: The Rainbow of Africa Collection
