Description
Gebel Kamil MeteoriteIron, ungrouped
Al Wadi al Jadid, Egypt - (22° 1' 6"N, 26° 5' 16"E)
Found: 2009
3.24 x 2.67 x 1.27 inches (8.23 x 6.77 x 3.23 cm)
This 430-gram specimen of Gebel Kamil Iron Meteorite is a fragment of the impactor that struck Egypt's desert roughly 5,000 years ago. The jagged surface and twisted metallic ridges bear the scars of violent collision as the Iron mass shattered and scattered across the landscape. The fusion-crusted exterior is marked by dark sheen and silvery highlights that glint like spectral light across the fractured metal. Each contour reflects the chaotic force of impact, frozen in time and transformed into natural sculpture. With an otherworldly form and weighty presence, this meteorite is a striking addition for any collector drawn to the "darker" side of natural history.
Estimate: $600 - up.
