    Dronino Meteorite
    Iron, Ataxite (Ungrouped)
    Ryazan Dististrict, Russia
    Found: July 2000

Dronino is a rare, Nickel-rich, ungrouped Iron meteorite. Originally discovered in the Ryazanskaya oblast in Russia in 2000 by a wild mushroom hunter, Dronino specimens are likely related to a buried meteorite crater that, as yet, remains undiscovered. Scientists embarked on an exploration of the area, and some 600 fragments were recovered. Due to the distribution of the fragments found, it is surmised that the meteorite impact formed the potential, now-buried, crater. This incredible complete individual is gnarled - a clear reminder of its extraterrestrial origin! The attractive, steely gray mass exhibits a flame-like brushed texture and weighs a seriously robust 1,033 grams.
    Overall Measurements: 4.84 x 2.80 x 1.54 inches (12.30 x 7.10 x 3.91 cm), weighs 1,033 grams

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
