    Dronino Meteorite End Cut
    Ryazan Dist., Russia (54° 44' 48"N, 41° 25' 18"E)
    Found: July 2000

This exceptional example of the Dornino Meteorite has the bonus of being an end cut with the duality of both a bright and shiny polished surface as well as a natural backside. In this case, the rough end was cut flat, but there is a 1.25 inch (3.18 cm) thick portion of metallic Meteorite between the two flat surfaces. This unique piece weighs a hearty 2.67 pounds (1.21 kg) and also has a shape reminiscent of a state -Florida. The three-dimensionality of this piece really makes it something special, and the "peninsula" from outer space is rather appealing. The solid mass is cut flat on the vertical edge as well allowing for presentation in an upwards fashion with the slightly curving promontory reaching back to the sky. This unique end cut has a lot to like about it, and it offers much for a specimen of an uncommon Ataxite from remote Russia.
    Overall Measurements: 6.34 x 3.27 x 1.28 inches (16.10 x 8.30 x 3.25 cm), weighs 1.21 kg (2.67 lbs.)

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
